Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation was recognized as Decatur County’s second largest nursing facility for the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reports.

The nursing home offered 90 beds during this time, which was 18 below Decatur County’s average bed count for the quarter. It served an average of 45.6 residents throughout the period.

CMS awarded Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation an overall rating of 2 out of 5, falling short of the statewide nursing home average of 3 stars in Tennessee.

Decatur County Healthcare, with 125 beds, was recorded as the largest nursing home in the county during the same timeframe.

Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation incurred $9,620 in one fine and faced one penalty as of the first quarter of 2026.

Overall, Decatur County, Tennessee, had two for-profit nursing facilities during the period.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the nation’s older adult population continues to rise as younger populations decrease. From 2020 through 2024, Americans aged 65 and over grew by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The country’s older adult segment has seen significant growth over the last century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to topping 61 million by 2024.

A study published in 2021 estimates that about half of older adults—roughly 28 million people—could need long-term services and supports, and that more than a third may require nursing home care eventually.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
