The Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) released on Tuesday its first weekly award winners for baseball. From the University of the South, Jack Roode was selected as the Player of the Week for the state. 

Over the first two weeks of the regular season, Roode recorded a 9-for-20 week (.450 average) with five runs scored, four extra base hits and 14 RBI. 

In Sewanee’s first weekend series with Brescia (Ky.), the junior was 3-for-6 in two starts with a triple and three RBI. 

This past weekend versus Fontbonne University. Roode went 6-of-14 at the plate with 11 RBI and four runs scored. Three of his six hits were for extra bases.

On Sunday versus the Griffins, he went 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored. He also launched two balls over the fence and drove in 10 RBI. 

Entering the third week of the regular season, Roode is second in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) with 14 RBI, fourth in slugging percentage (.900), fifth in on-base plus slugging (1.442), eighth in hits (9) and 10th in batting average (.450).
