Green tabbed to take over tennis program | Lane College
Director of Athletics, Derrick Burroughs, has announced the hiring of Venecca Green as head coach for the men's and women's tennis teams at Lane College.
Green comes to Lane after completing the 2022 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Fellowship in Tennis Coaching and Leadership Program at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. She is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) as a Level 2 teaching professional.
Green is a native of Jackson, Mississippi where she has enjoyed much success captaining USTA adult men and women league teams. She has coached tournament players, high school team players, and league team players for more than 15 years. Her tennis background includes playing and captaining USTA adult league teams as high as the 4.0 to 5.0 levels and competing in various USTA State, Regional, Sectional and National Championships. Most recently she has added coaching junior high-performance players to her resume.
"Coaching tennis is my gift and passion," said Green. "This opportunity to coach tennis at the collegiate level is a welcomed challenge. I look forward to building competitive Division-II men and women tennis programs that will proudly represent Lane College."
Green earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Office Administration from Jackson State University. A practicing Mississippi lawyer, Green earned a Juris Doctorate from the Mississippi College School of Law.
