Lane College Volleyball picks up four wins at SIAC Cluster

The Lane College volleyball team took part in the SIAC West Cluster this weekend and picked up four wins to clinch the number two seed out of the SIAC West for the upcoming conference championship tournament.

The Dragons opened play on Thursday night at home against Kentucky State University. The Dragons won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-22, and 25-17. Anayah Goss paced the Lane attack with 10 kills, Da'Iuana LaMaster had 10 digs, and Jazmyne Jones registered 31 assists.

Lane continued conference play in Memphis this weekend, taking on Tuskegee University, Central State University, Miles College, and Spring Hill College.

Lane came away with a 3-0 victory against Tuskegee (25-21, 25-14, 33-31). Jones had 42 assists, while Kyra Gaston led the team with 14 kills.

Next, Lane competed against Central State University. The Dragons won in a three set match (25-19, 25-11, 25-17). Jones finished with 35 assists and Maia Thompson led the team with 10 kills.

The Dragons capped off their weekend by quickly disposing of Miles College (25-22, 25-15, 25-22). Jones had 37 assists and Bre'elle Hawkins had 15 kills.

The Dragons will conclude their home slate on Monday night when they take on Mississippi University for Women. Lane will celebrate its four seniors after the game. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
