Drew Taylor took home medalist honors at the FHU Fall Invitational at the team's home course, Chickasaw Golf Course.
The senior got hot in the final round, rallying to shoot a three under 69. After round one, Taylor was one shot back. Having only one bogey, two birdies, and an eagle on the 9th hole helped him overcome the one-shot difference and win by one stroke.
"Getting the win at Chickasaw golf course was a huge goal for me this year," said Taylor. "I had many reasons to win this tournament but defending our home grounds for the team was most important. I plan on using this win as fuel to build off of and continue to improve this year one step at a time."
Junior Tyler Rhodes followed Taylor's lead with a final round 77 (+5). Next was juniors E.J. Hill and Austin Warren both shooting 79s (+7). Senior Bowman Blocker finished with a final round of 81 (+9) with senior Wesley Graham and sophomore Ben Shelton two strokes behind him with scores of 83 (+11). Sophomores Gabe Matherly and Landon Mobley finished with 86 (+14) and 88 (+16) respectively. The team finished in a tie for fourth place with Bethel (Tenn.) University.
Next, the Lions will compete October 3rd-4th at Twelve Oaks Golf Club in Goodlettsville as they compete in the Music City Invitational hosted by Cumberland (Tenn.) University.
