The Dragons volleyball team opened conference play in South Carolina on Saturday, taking on Benedict and Allen University at HRC Arena.
Game one saw Lane and Benedict swap sets and need all five matches to determine a winner. Lane came away with a 3-2 victory (25-21, 17-25, 2523, 20-25, 15-10)
Bre'elle Hawkins led all attackers with 17.5 points and a game-high five aces. She currently leads the conference in total aces and is 3rd nationally.
Maia Thompson added 15 points with 12 kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists.
Hawkins again paced the Lane attack in game two, finishing with 16.5 points on 15 kills, an ace, and a block assist.
Thompson added 14.5 points and Kyra Gaston added 11 points.
