Freed-Hardeman University Rhodes Leads, Lions in Sixth After Round One in Missouri

The Freed-Hardeman men's golf team sits in sixth place after a score of 305 in the first round of play in the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Fall Invitational.

Junior Tyler Rhodes not only led the team but is tied for first place in the 58-man field. Rhodes made three birdies and only one bogey to get him to a 70 (-2). "It was a good all-around day for my game," said Rhodes. "I kept it in the fairway and got up and down when I needed to."

Adding to the team score was senior Bowman Blocker, carding 76 (+4). Next was senior Drew Taylor with a 79 (+7). Just one stroke behind Taylor was junior E.J. Hill and senior Wesley Graham with a pair of 80s (+8).

Competing individually was freshman Wil Spillers, carding 83 (+11). Next was sophomore Ben Shelton and Senior Jameson Powell, shooting 85 (+13) and 87 (+15), respectively.

The Lions are two strokes behind Central Baptist (Ark.) College, Lyon (Ark.) College, and Mississippi University for Women, who are all tied for third.
