Freed-Hardeman University President David R. Shannon has announced the hiring of Nathan Kitchen as FHU’s new director of information technology.
Kitchen is an FHU alumnus, having earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Education degrees from the university. Kitchen began teaching math in 2001 in Hampton, Virginia. His work there in a 1:1 student laptop pilot program led to a move to Fayette County, Tennessee, to be the system’s instructional technology coordinator. He later served Haywood County Schools in the same role before he became the network engineer for Syndesi Solutions. Kitchen served as network administrator for Kilgore Flares Company and Designed Conveyor Systems before this move to FHU.
He holds a certification in CISSP, which is the IT equivalent to a master’s degree with subject matter that includes security, risk management, asset security, security architecture and engineering, communication and network security, identity and access management.
“We are excited to welcome Nathan in leading this vital area of our campus,” FHU President David R. Shannon said. “His background and expertise will continue advancing information technology in serving students, faculty and staff.”
The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson and Memphis, FHU offers associate, bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctoral degrees.
