Freed-Hardeman soccer will have an incoming freshman riding high from winning a club national championship as Danny Garcia and the Tennessee United Soccer Club beat Chicago's Sockers FC in penalties to win the National Premier League 6-5 after a 1-1 draw.
Garcia, a forward from McGavock High School signed to be an FHU Lion in April.
The TUSC finished their season a perfect 14-0-0 in the regular season before coasting through the national playoffs 3-0-0. A 5-0-0 run at the final site for the national finals saw Garcia's squad 17 goals across five matches to with the league's U-19 crown.
According to Garcia, the transition game is TUSC's specialty, saying, "We're fantastic in offensive transition - when we win the ball, we break quickly, effectively and in numbers, and can win games in transition."
