Senator Bill Hagerty, Republican representing Tennessee in the U.S. Senate, recently promoted his Main Street Depositor Protection Act and commented on upcoming diplomatic meetings between U.S. and Japanese leaders through a series of social media posts.

On February 5, 2026, Hagerty wrote: “My deposit insurance bill, the Main Street Depositor Protection Act, will fortify community banks, strengthen financial stability, and help Main Street flourish. @SecScottBessent: “I think this is an extremely important piece of legislation. In a separate post addressing foreign relations on February 5, 2026, Hagerty stated: “As Senator & former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, I look forward to supporting @RealDonaldTrump when he hosts Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi @JPN_PMO @takaichi_sanae in Washington on March 19th. The U.S.-Japan Alliance is stronger than ever. @POTUS’s @USAmbJapan, my good friend https://t.co/io9lIgnMhV”.
