Senator Bill Hagerty, U.S. Senator representing Tennessee and former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, posted a series of tweets in late July 2025 highlighting his ongoing work with young Tennesseans interested in military service academies, support for President Trump’s trade negotiations, and commitment to confirming the president’s team.
On July 22, 2025, Hagerty addressed prospective students from Tennessee considering service academy appointments: “Are you a young Tennessean who is interested in attending a United States Service Academy? One of my favorite parts of serving the state of Tennessee is the opportunity to work with young men and women across the Volunteer State who aspire to serve our great country. If you are”.
In another post on July 23, 2025, Hagerty referenced his experience as ambassador and praised President Trump’s achievements in international trade: “As former U.S. Ambassador to Japan in the first Trump administration who worked on two trade deals, I knew from firsthand experience @POTUS would secure an incredible outcome for the American people. No other President could have accomplished this. Hat’s off the President’s”.
Later that same day, he reiterated his commitment to supporting President Trump by expediting confirmations: “I’m committed to getting President Trump’s team in place. I’m ready to vote on weekends, during August recess – no matter how long it takes.”
Bill Hagerty has served as U.S. Senator since January 2021 after previously acting as Ambassador to Japan under President Donald Trump from 2017-2019. As senator, he has frequently focused on national security issues and support for military families through academy nominations.
