Senator Bill Hagerty, who represents Tennessee in the U.S. Senate and has a background in public service and business, recently highlighted Memphis’s efforts to reduce crime and invest in community development through a series of posts on social media.

On April 7, 2026, Hagerty toured the Memphis Downtown Crime Center with city officials and police officers. He posted, “The Memphis Downtown Crime Center isn’t just changing the narrative, it’s changing the reality on the ground. I appreciated the opportunity to tour the facility today alongside @mayorpaulyoung and the dedicated officers of the @MEM_PoliceDept. Together, we’re making real progress”.

Later that day, Hagerty addressed local business leaders about ongoing improvements in Memphis. He wrote, “As crime continues to decline, Memphis is building real momentum and the people of this city are ready to lead. It was a privilege to speak with members of the @BBAMemphis this afternoon about strengthening infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities, developing a skilled”.

On April 9, 2026, Hagerty commented on federal government reforms during a previous administration: “Thank you @DepSecVaden for setting the record straight. This is yet another example of the Trump administration making the government work for Americans, not bureaucrats.”

Hagerty was elected as U.S. Senator from Tennessee and serves on several Senate committees including Appropriations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Foreign Relations; and Rules and Administration (official website). His platform focuses on national security and economic development. Before his election to the Senate, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Japan and has experience in both public service and private sector leadership.
