Senator Bill Hagerty, a Republican representing Tennessee in the U.S. Senate, used his social media platform on February 5, 2026, to criticize European energy policy and recent proposals for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding requirements.

In a post from February 5, 2026, Hagerty stated: “Europe’s misguided energy agenda has left it unacceptably reliant on Russia. Now, the EU is trying to globalize its ill-conceived policies by forcing U.S. companies to comply with its Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).

Later that day, Hagerty addressed demands related to DHS funding from Senator Schumer. He wrote: “Let’s break down a few of @SenSchumer’s demands for DHS funding:

1. Requiring judicial warrants for ICE arrests

Every illegal alien for whom DHS serves an administrative warrant has already had full due process and a final order for removal from an immigration judge.

In another post published almost simultaneously, Hagerty questioned Democratic positions on identification requirements: “3. Require officers to display their agency and unique ID number

Since when have Democrats been interested in ID? Last time I checked, Schumer and Democrats oppose the SAVE Act, which requires voter ID to vote in American elections.”

Hagerty serves on several key Senate committees during the 119th Congress—including Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Foreign Relations; Appropriations; and Rules and Administration—according to his official website. His office operates district locations across Tennessee as well as a site in Washington D.C., providing constituent services such as casework assistance and support with federal agencies statewide through offices in Chattanooga, Knoxville and the Tri-Cities.
