Senator Bill Hagerty, who represents Tennessee in the U.S. Senate, recently addressed a range of policy issues on his official Twitter account, including redistricting in Tennessee, Japan’s approach to Indo-Pacific cooperation, and census apportionment.
On May 2, 2026, Hagerty expressed support for Governor Bill Lee’s call for a special session focused on redistricting. He stated: “I fully support @GovBillLee’s announcement this afternoon calling for a special session to address redistricting. Tennesseans deserve a map that ensures their voices are represented both at home and in Washington, D.C. I appreciate the Tennessee General Assembly taking up this”.
Later that day, Hagerty commented on developments in Japanese foreign policy. In response to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s speech in Vietnam about Japan’s evolving role in the Indo-Pacific region, he posted: “I applaud @JPN_PMO @takaichi_sanae’s important speech today in Vietnam on updating Japan’s approach to a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. In particular, I welcome Prime Minister Takaichi’s vision for Japan’s new proactive approach to cooperation on technological security, economic”.
On May 5, 2026, Hagerty highlighted his legislative efforts regarding census procedures and congressional representation: “Spot on, @StephenM. That’s why I introduced the Equal Representation Act. Every one of the @SenateDems voted against it. Only American citizens should be counted in the census for the apportionment of congressional seats and the electoral college.”
Hagerty was elected as U.S. Senator from Tennessee and maintains offices both in Washington D.C. and several locations across Tennessee such as Memphis and Nashville (official website). He serves on key Senate committees including Appropriations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Foreign Relations; and Rules and Administration. Originally from Sumner County where he achieved Eagle Scout rank and engaged with civic organizations through community service initiatives, Hagerty continues to play an active role both locally and nationally.
