Lane College to Honor Student-Athletes at Banquet

Lane College Director of Athletics Derrick Burroughs has announced an inaugural all-sports banquet to take place on April 3rd.

The event will honor student-athletes from all 12 sports teams sponsored by the institution.

“We feel it important to honor the accomplishments of these players and coaches,” said Burroughs.

“We have experienced some major achievements in the past year, some that have never been achieved before in school history. We look forward to a night where we can celebrate these as an entire group.”

While this is the first event of its kind in Burroughs’ tenure as Director of Athletics, he is already making plans for it to be a yearly celebration.

“We intend to make this an annual event as we continue to focus on our student-athlete experience and promote our department as a premier destination in the SIAC.”

Lane will present each team with superlatives including, but not limited to: offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year, scholar-athlete of the year, and more.

Two student-athletes will also be recognized for being named Jackson-Madison County Hall of Fame Athletes of the Year: O’Joshua Bunton and Millay Lambert.

The banquet will take place on Monday, April 3rd, at 6:00 PM in J.F. Lane Gymnasium.
