Yesterday, Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee appeared on Fox News’ America Reports to discuss his concerns about the United Nations and the qualifications of Representative Mike Waltz, nominated by President Donald Trump for U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.
Senator Hagerty expressed his views on the current state of the United Nations, saying, “I think that [Representative] Mike Waltz did a good job in the hearing. He’s taking on a very challenging organization–that’s the United Nations.” He highlighted that the U.N. has deviated from its original mission of promoting peace, justice, and human rights. “Today, it’s a completely politicized organization,” he stated.
Hagerty also addressed bias within the U.N., particularly referencing events from October 7, 2023. “One of the most egregious examples…was what happened on October 7, 2023,” he said. He criticized how Hamas was allegedly assisted by U.N. personnel in attacks against Israelis and noted that such actions have been dismissed by U.N. leadership.
Regarding a controversy involving Signal chat communications during Waltz’s hearing, Hagerty remarked that no classified information was involved: “As he [Waltz] said…the information that was passed was not classified.”
